zip code

If you ever need to lok up a zip code, the easiest way to do it is with the USPS page. you just put in the street address, town, and state, and it even gives you the zip4, which is more detailed.

garbage

this city has a strange system for garbage. everyone has to buy yellow city trash bags. they come in small and large, and the large ones cost $1 while the small cost 50 cents. then once a week you put them out on the curb, but the trash people only pick up the city trash bags, so if you use normal bags and don't put them inside a city bag they'll just stay there.

recycling's free though. you can get a bin free from the department of public works, or just use any bin you want. then you put the crap in it and they just empty it and leave the bin. so the freeness is an incentive to recycle. I only fill up a trash bag every other week since i live on my own and don't eat that much and i do recycle regularly.

USB thumb drive

I filled up my USB thumb drive. it was only 512 Megs, and since I often put on powerpoint presentations with all the images that just wans't big enough. i think i'm going to go get me a 1 or 2 gig. I like having it all in one place rather than having to fiddle around trying to find the right drive. i have to remember to backup things frequently, or i might run into problems if it fails.
